ABOUT OUR CULTOUR TEAM

Johan Pieterse

Johan started his career at South African Airways and spent ten years at the airline responsible for inter-airline relations. During this time he became an expert in calculating airfares. He then moved on to the retail travel industry and traded in both leisure and corporate travel.

Johan was a member of the Transvaal Youth Choir and later joined PACT (Performing Arts Council of Transvaal) where he participated in the Ad Hoc Opera Chorus for ten years.

Following the downscaling of PACT, Johan became involved in training and conducting various adult choirs, including a mixed black and white choir called Dibanani – which translates to “united in music”. In 2001 he took Dibanani on a very successful performance tour to Europe.

Apart from his vast travel knowledge stemming from numerous travels abroad, Johan also enjoys playing the piano and church organ.

Marelise van Rensburg

Marelise held the position of airline manager for a number of years with Luxavia Airlines. It was during this time that the demand for group travel peaked her interest.

Marelise was also the Chairlady of the Tour and Travel Committee of the International Eisteddfod (Roodepoort) for 7 years. She organised the travel arrangements for over 2000 international participants each year.

With her inherent entrepreneurial skills, Marelise decided to start her own company that would specialise in performance tours for Choirs, Jazz Bands and Orchestras. Cultour-Africa was founded in 1995.

Since 1989 Marelise has been building international contacts and has acquired a wealth of information, experience and expertise in this niche market. Marelise devotes her time tending to the needs of touring performers both locally and abroad.

"We will take care of everything!"
